These pieces were inspired during my four month international exchange to Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary, Canada in 2017. Each kiln-formed piece represents an aspect of Wireless School No 2, whose graduates flew as Wireless Operators in Bomber Command in World War II. Heritage Hall is the name of the building that the men trained in in the period 1942 - 1945 and it still stand today on the grounds of the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. The work questions the ephemerality of memory associated with place and has a personal connection as my father was one of those who trained there for eight months in 1943-44.
